The Giants are the picks of many to be perhaps the surprise team of the NFL during this upcoming 2026 season led by new head coach John Harbaugh along with rookie standout QB Jaxson Dart heading into year 2 as a starter. The offense has a chance to be strong led by the dual threat Dart and a very talented although inconsistent starting offensive front. The skill position grouping of the Giants is one to keep an eye on as they have emerging young talent and here I will do a detailed analysis of the Giants’ skill position unit heading into next season.
2024 1st round pick Malik Nabers had an astounding first season in the NFL where he graded in the top ten among all qualified wide outs according to Pro Football Focus despite being a rookie which is remarkable. However, Nabers suffered a season ending injury during the 2025 season and seemed to regress even in his limited time on the field. However, I still feel comfortable saying that Nabers will emerge as one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL during this upcoming 2026 season.
The rest of the Giants’ wide receiver unit is a concern however as they lack the presence of reliable playmakers at the position outside of Nabers although they do have some talent. Darnell Mooney has shown a high ceiling at times in the NFL although lacking consistency. The team drafted wide receiver Malachi Fields in the 3rd round of the 2026 draft. Isaiah Hodgins had a very strong first season in the NFL although drastically tailing off since for the past three seasons. 2023 3rd rounder Jalin Hyatt was drafted pretty highly and although he has underwhelmed thus far the jury might still be out on him. The team also onboarded the likes of big names Odell Beckham Jr and Juju Smith Schuster this offseason as well.
At running back, the team is led by 2025 rookie standout Cam Skattebo who had an elite rookie season that was unfortunately cut short due to injury, and he is in line to become a potential star in the NFL. Skattebo graded in the top 25% among players at his position according to Pro Football Focus which is rare for a rookie to play that well. As he heads into year 2 with the Giants having a more solid QB spot and head coaching position, he could come into his own. The Giants lack depth behind him although the likes of Devin Singletary has shown some promise over the years.
At tight end the Giants are led by the likes of former Ravens’ standout tight end Isaiah Likely who was arguably the top #2 tight end in the NFL during his time with the Ravens and will now have a chance to step into a leading tight end role. Likely could potentially thrive re-united with his former head coach John Harbaugh and now finally having a chance to be the leading tight end of a team. However, Likely did struggle during the 2025 season ranking among the worst tight ends in the NFL when playing, after grading well above average the two seasons prior which were the only two seasons outside of his rookie campaign. The Giants also do not have a surefire NFL caliber player behind him on the depth chart as of now either and the position is very thin.
Overall, the Giants have some talent from a skill position player standpoint primarily in the likes of Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo. However, outside of those two there are far too many question marks from a skill position player standpoint. They do not have a reliable wide receiver outside of Nabers, they lack depth behind Skattebo, and Isaiah Likely at tight end is coming off an awful season and is totally unproven as a leading tight end with the Giants having no depth behind him either. A breakdown of the Giants’ skill position grouping heading into next season can be found below.
