The Los Angeles Rams this past season were the only team in the NFL to give the eventual Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles any legitimate trouble come playoff time. Led by offensive minded head coach Sean McVay and former #1 overall pick Super Bowl winning quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Rams have been known to be stout offensively. Since winning the Super Bowl the Rams have had their struggles on the offensive side of the ball and as a team in totality as well. Headed into next season I think they have what it takes to be a very good and perhaps even a great offensive team. As Sean McVay is one of the premier offensive minds in the NFL and Matthew Stafford is one of only three current starting quarterbacks with a Super Bowl championship. Here I will go into detail discussing the offense of the Los Angeles Rams headed into the 2025 season beginning below with their major offensive metrics during the 2024 campaign.
Los Angeles Rams 2024 Major Offensive Metrics
8th in overall offense grade according to Pro Football Focus
20th in points per game
15th in yards per game
As you can see from the above the Rams were a pretty meager offensive team over the course of the 2024 season. However, the Rams got off to a horrid 1-4 start to the season as the team has been known to get off to slow starts since winning it all. But once the team got into the full groove of things while getting healthier, the team and the offense started to produce at a much better level than earlier in the season. So much of the above three metrics are certainly skewed because of the team’s poor start to the season. Despite the poor start to the season, Pro Football Focus still graded the Rams as the 8th best overall offense in the NFL during the 2024 season. Take out the team’s 1-4 start and the Rams likely rank in or near the top ten in terms of both points and yards accumulated. While still ranking in the top ten if not making the leap into the top five in terms of overall offense grade according to Pro Football Focus. Headed into next season head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford remain while offensive coordinator Mike Lafleur is headed into his third season on the job as well. Outside of the offensive coaching staff and the QB spot the personnel on the offensive side of the ball will loom large for the Rams next season as well. I have conducted an analysis of the Rams’ offensive personnel in the 2024 season and also headed into the 2025 season below. In that analysis I have included the offense grade that the player was assigned by Pro Football Focus over the course of the 2024 season. In addition to that I have included my own subjective grade of the player that indicates how strong I feel they are in totality outside of just the 2024 season. Beginning below with the offensive line of the team during the 2024 season and also headed into the 2025 campaign.
Rams 2024 Offensive Line Starters
LT – Alaric Jackson – (18/87) offense grade in 2024 over 893 snaps, B to B+

Rams 2024 Key Offensive Line Metrics
30th in pass blocking grade according to Pro Football Focus
5th in run blocking grade according to Pro Football Focus
23rd in pass blocking efficiency
10th in sacks allowed
As you can see from this final set of data and also the personnel of the Rams’ offensive line that I listed, Los Angeles had a hit and miss offensive front this past season. They ranked in the top ten if not in the top five in two of the above four metrics. But ranked in the bottom ten if not the bottom five in the remaining two metrics. The inconsistency but still the very high ceiling of the Rams’ offensive line this past season can be attributed to injuries in particular. Interior offensive lineman Jonah Jackson was supposed to start headed into the year but missed the vast majority of the year due to injury. Right tackle Rob Havenstein and left guard Steve Avila also missed extended action during the 2024 campaign as well. The Rams’ offensive line this past season was actually pretty stout everywhere outside of center. I graded four of the five starters, every starter except center, to be in the B to A- range as an overall player in the league. While all four of those starters graded in the above average to well above average range in terms of an overall offense grade during the 2024 season. Starting center Beaux Limmer had his struggles as a rookie last season and was indeed the weak link on the starting offensive line. Headed into next season, the Rams’ offensive line is set to be better as the four high level starters remain while the front office has addressed the lackluster starting center position. The Rams have done this by adding veteran Coleman Shelton to the mix. Shelton spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Rams before spending 2024 with the Bears, and he has since rejoined the Rams. The Rams’ projected 2025 offensive line lineup can be found below.
Projected 2025 Rams’ Starting Offensive Line
LT – Alaric Jackson – B to B+
LG – Steve Avila – B
C – Coleman Shelton – B
RG – Kevin Dotson – B+ to A-
RT – Rob Havenstein – B+
Projected 2025 Rams’ Reserve Offensive Lineman
T – D.J Humphries – B-
G – Justin Dedich – C
C – Beaux Limmer – C-
T – Warren McClendon Jr – C
T – A.J Arcuri – D+
G – Wyatt Bowles – UDFA 2025
C – Dylan McMahon – D-
T – Trey Wedig – UDFA 2025
T – K.T Leveston – 2024 seventh round pick, 0 career snaps
G – Ben Dooley – UDFA 2025
G – Willie Lampkin – UDFA 2025
As you can see from the above the Rams have addressed their biggest weakness on their starting offensive front in adding veteran Coleman Shelton to the mix. The Rams’ projected 2025 starting offensive line ranks up there with any team in the NFL. As all five starters consistently produce at an above average to a well above average level. The depth on the Rams’ offensive line is a concern however but veteran D.J Humphries is capable of high-level play off the bench. I have conducted a similar analysis of the Rams’ skill position players from the 2024 season and also headed into the 2025 season below.
2024 Rams Skill Position Players
Wide Receivers
WR – Puka Nacua – (1/110) offense grade in 2024 over 486 snaps, A to A+
WR – Cooper Kupp – (49/110) offense grade in 2024 over 637 snaps, B+
WR – DeMarcus Robinson – (72/110) offense grade in 2024 over 891 snaps, C
WR – Tutu Atwell – (48/110) offense grade in 2024 over 425 snaps, C+ to B-
WR – Jordan Whittington – (21/110) offense grade in 2024 over 279 snaps, B to B+ so far as 2024 sixth rounder
WR – Tyler Johnson – (64/110) offense grade in 2024 over 361 snaps, C-
WR – Xavier Smith (37/110) offense grade in 2024 over 33, B so far as 2024 UDFA

Running Backs
HB – Kyren Williams – (34/58) offense grade in 2024 over 888 snaps, C+ to B-
HB – Blake Corum – (27/58) offense grade in 2024 over 118 snaps, B- so far as 2024 third rounder
HB – Ronnie Rivers – (30/58) offense grade in 2024 over 82 snaps, C
HB – Cody Schrader – 1 career reception and 1 career rushing attempts, 2024 UDFA
As you can see from the above the Rams had a talented group of skill position players this past season but it was far from perfect and they did struggle with injuries. 2023 fifth round pick Puka Nacua has exceeded expectations by quite a bit and has been amongst the best overall players in the NFL through his first two seasons in the league. Nacua as a rookie played in all 17 games and ranked top 10 in terms of an overall offense grade according to Pro Football Focus accumulating nearly 1500 receiving yards on over 100 receptions. This past season Nacua missed several games but in his time on the field he graded as the best wide receiver in the NFL in terms of an overall offense grade according to Pro Football Focus. Number two wide out Cooper Kupp, who when he was younger was amongst the best wide receivers in the NFL also struggled with health in the 2024 season, missing a handful of games, and was ostensibly past his prime as well. The Rams’ receiving core was amongst the deepest in the NFL as they had multiple players in a reserve role capable of giving the team strong production at the wide receiver position. Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington in particular who both have played at a consistently above-average level in their time in the NFL. This is not to mention Xavier Smith and DeMarcus Robinson who have also shown they are capable of playing at a high level as well.
At the remaining skill position spots, the Rams had some nice pieces but were not nearly as talented and again struggled with injuries. At tight end, Tyler Higbee is typically one of the better overall tight ends in the NFL but missed almost the entirety of the 2024 season due to injury. The remaining three tight ends for the Rams produced at a subpar level this past season as well. At the running back position, Kyren Williams led the way and is known for having a high ceiling in the league but struggling with consistency. Williams struggled as a rookie as one would expect but then had a very strong second season in 2023 but then struggled again in the 2024 campaign. Williams was the lead halfback for the Rams this past season but is perhaps better suited in a backup role. The backup to Kyren Williams was 2024 third round pick Blake Corum who looked solid as a rookie in limited snaps. The running back unit for the Rams in totality this past season was very average to mediocre as Williams struggled with consistency and Corum was too young.
Headed into next season the Rams’ projected lineup of skill position players is electric as they have added some nice pieces to the mix, will likely stay healthier, and are optimistic that players who have struggled with consistency and/or have been too young can come into their own. The Rams’ projected 2025 lineup of skill position players can be found below.
2025 Rams’ projected skill position starters
HB – Kyren Williams – C+ to B-
WR – Puka Nacua – A to A+
WR – Davante Adams – B+ to A-
WR – Tutu Atwell – C+ to B-
TE – Tyler Higbee – B
2025 Rams’ projected skill position reserves
HB – Blake Corum – C+ to B- so far as 2024 third rounder
HB – Jarquez Hunter – 2025 fourth rounder
HB – Ronnie Rivers – C
WR – Jordan Whittington – B to B+
WR – Konata Mumpfield – 2025 seventh rounder
WR – Xavier Smith – B to B+ in 33 career snaps
WR – Britian Covey – D+ to C-
WR – Tru Edwards – UDFA 2025
WR – Brennan Presley – UDFA 2025
WR – Mario Williams – UDFA 2025
WR – Drake Stoops – UDFA 2024, 0 career receptions
TE – Terrance Ferguson – 2025 second rounder
TE – Colby Parkinson – C+
TE – Davis Allen – D+ to C-
As you can see from the above, the moves the Rams made this offseason in regards to their skill position grouping revolved around acquiring the likes of Davante Adams in particular and also spending a second-round pick in the 2025 draft on tight end Terrance Ferguson. The Rams are hoping that Adams is a better version of what Cooper Kupp was for the team last season. A wide-out who is past his prime who when he was in his prime was in the discussion for being the best wide receiver in the NFL. But the Rams are hoping that Adams can stay healthier than Kupp and is closer to prime form than Kupp was in 2024. Given the questionable health of tight end Tyler Higbee last season and his inconsistent play as well. The Rams have spent a 2025 second round pick on tight end Terrance Ferguson who Los Angeles is hoping will be amongst the premier #2 tight ends in the NFL given his very high draft status. Outside of that, with regards to improvements in the skill positions the Rams are hoping to see headed into next season. Los Angeles is hoping that young running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum who have struggled with either consistency or a lack of experience in their careers thus far can come into their own next year. Puka Nacua will likely produce at an elite level next year for the Los Angeles Rams but the remaining starters at the skill positions are all talented but all have their question marks. How good will Davante Adams be as a #2 wide out? As he is set to turn 33 years old at the end of next season. How good will Tyler Higbee be? As he is known to struggle with consistency despite showing a high ceiling. How good will former second round pick Tutu Atwell be? As he has not quite lived up to his potential despite showing some promise. If the remaining skill position starters outside of Nacua can play to near their full potential, the Rams’ starting group of skill position players will rank up there with any team in the NFL. From a depth standpoint at the skill positions, the Rams have several players who are capable of giving them high end production as well. From a depth standpoint at the skill positions the Rams are in as good of a shape as any team in the NFL. As Jordan Whittington, Blake Corum, and Terrance Ferguson, at wide out, running back, and tight end respectively are all capable of producing at a starting caliber level.
Overall, I like the Rams offensively almost as much as any team in the NFL headed into next season. The Rams’ starting five offensive line in terms of raw talent is elite and ranks up there with almost any team in the NFL. The Rams are not overly deep from an offensive line standpoint but are deep enough to get the job done. From a skill position standpoint, the Rams have amongst the premier skill position groupings in the NFL. From a starting standpoint in regards to skill positions, Los Angeles is above average if not well above average and has the potential to be the latter of the two if certain players are on their A game. While from a depth standpoint the Rams have perhaps the deepest collection of skill position talent in the NFL possessing multiple players who are currently in reserve roles who have what it takes to be above average starters. The Rams are also led by one of the premier offensive minds in the NFL at head coach in Sean McVay. While starting QB Matthew Stafford is a former number one overall pick who is one of only three current starting NFL QBs with a Super Bowl championship. This is not to mention backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo being perhaps the premier backup QB in the NFL today. I could make a very strong argument that the Rams are the premier offensive team in the NFC if not the NFL headed into the 2025 season.
