The Jaguars had a very surprising season in 2025 in the first year under head coach Liam Coen that they are looking to build off of heading into the 2026 campaign. In my process of analyzing the offensive personnel of the team I have already gone over the offensive line in detail and here I will assess the skill position players that the team has.

At the running back spot, the team has their question marks but still their bright spots. 2025 4th rounder Bhayshul Tuten is currently listed as the #1 back on the team’s depth chart but is coming off a disappointing rookie season that he will need to improve upon in order to remain #1 on the depth chart. Tuten graded near the bottom of the NFL among players at his position but Liam Coen seems to feel he will improve quite a bit heading into year 2. 2023 6th rounder Chris Rodriguez Jr is second on the depth chart behind Tuten and will be in line to perhaps become the Jaguars’ leading man out of the backfield as Rodriguez Jr has looked very strong in limited NFL action. Rodriguez Jr has graded in the above average to well above average to elite range in terms of an overall offense grade according to Pro Football Focus among players at his position in all three seasons he has played thus far. However, it has been in limited action, and Rodriguez Jr has struggled to establish himself as a legitimate receiving threat out of the backfield grading in the well below average range in all three seasons in that department. The running back tandem of the Jaguars will likely be solid at best and the team lacks highly capable #3 and #4 backs as well.

At tight end the Jaguars have a strong unit that still has some question marks associated with it as the unit is led by two high draftees. 2023 2nd rounder Brenton Strange performed at a borderline elite level during the 2025 season and looked like he was worth being drafted as high as he was after previously disappointing to start his career. While the team also drafted tight end Nate Boerkircher very highly in the 2nd round of the 2026 draft to supplement Strange in the unit.

The wide receiver unit of the Jaguars is a bright spot for the team although the unit still has some question marks. Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr was drafted in the 1st round of the 2024 draft and had an elite rookie season and was in line to become a star in the NFL. However, Thomas Jr really regressed in year 2 in the NFL ranking below average among players at his position while struggling with his health. 2026 could certainly be the breakout season for Thomas Jr as he hopefully stays healthy while going into year 2 of Liam Coen’s system.

The Jaguars acquired veteran wide receiver Jakobi Meyers from the Raiders in the middle of last season to replace Travis Hunter in the unit after Hunter suffered a season ending injury. Meyers has always been underrated in his career as he has graded in the above average to well above average range in every season he has played outside of his rookie campaign. Meyers is currently listed as the WR2 for the Jaguars heading into the 2026 season and will likely be a fine player in the role.

Number three on the Jaguars’ depth chart at wide receiver is Parker Washington who had a career year in 2025. Washington played at a well below average clip in each of his first two seasons in 2024 and 2023 but then played at a borderline elite rate in 2025. Washington could very well climb the Jaguars’ depth chart if he continues his strong play.

Travis Hunter is the only notable name outside of the first three wide outs for the Jaguars on the remaining depth chart. Hunter was rumored to perhaps transition to being a full-time corner in the 2026 season after struggling with his health and performing at a below average clip while playing wide out as a rookie. However, Hunter won the award in college for being the nation’s best wide receiver and still performed at a somewhat decent rate as a wide out as a rookie. If Hunter can come into his own, he could easily climb the Jaguars’ depth chart at wide out and be a high-level player for the team on offense.

The Jaguars are in pretty good shape from a skill position standpoint heading into the 2026 season and have the potential if young players come into their own to have an elite grouping of skill position players. A breakdown of the Jaguars’ skill position grouping can be found below.
